BONG REVILLA IS NEW CAVITE GOVERNOR
Trece Martires City, Feb. 6, 1998 - Actor Bong Revilla will be sworn in today as Governor of the province of Cavite, taking over from Gov. Epimaco Velasco who is the new secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government.
"This affair will be doubly significant for the people of Cavite," Revilla said. "We will be celebrating the rise of a Caviteno to be a member of the cabinet."
The new governor stressed that his administration will concentrate on continuing the projects started by Velasco, with emphasis on the fight against drugs and crime.
Bong called on his political enemies to join him in his efforts at unity.
"We will try to initiate reconciliation and I hope my fellow politicians accept this offer for the good of Cavite's hard-working residents," Bong said.
Cavitenos recall that Senator Ramon Revilla, Bong's father, also was Cavite governor before running for a national position.
