25 HOT AIR BALLOONS AT CLARK FESTIVAL
Clark Field, Jan. 11, 1998 - The regional economic crunch has not dimmed the enthusiasm of 25 rabid hot air balloon enthusiasts, who are coming from all around the world to soar over Central Luzon and Mount Pinatubo next month.
The 5th Philippine Centennial Hot Air Balloon Festival from Feb. 8 to 15 will bring in a team which will attempt to set a world record by crossing over 5,000-foot-high Mount Pinatubo at an altitude of 7,000 feet.
The trio of Bob Kinsinger, Dennis Folden and Joyce Bowen will land somewhere in Castillejos or San Marcelino town in Zambales, with the Philippine Air Force 600th Air Base Wing and the Air Transportation Office overseeing the safety of the team during and after the feat.
The record-setting flight is expected to establish the Philippines as one of the premier playing fields for hot air ballooning in Southeast Asia.
