14 COUNTRIES JOIN BORACAY WINDSURF TOURNAMENT
Boracay Island, Jan. 8, 1998 - Competitors from 14 countries have started to arrive for the Boracay International Funboard Cup, now acknowledged by the American magazine Wind Surfing as the top world travel windsurfing destination in Asia for 1997.
The windsurfing event is scheduled for January 11 - 17, and will be held on the waters of Bulabog Beach on the windy eastern side of Boracay.
Competitors led by Malcolm White of Australia will challenge 1997 over-all champion Filipino Ed Fajermo, who has confirmed readiness to defend his title as the best slalom racer on a windsurf board.
Swiss businessman Felix Guggenheim, 1997 Open Heavy champion, will face all comers.
Close to a hundred sportsmen, businessmen, students and white collar professionals will converge on Boracay from Australia, Denmark, France, Hong Kong, Japan, the Philippines, Switzerland, Singapore, Taiwan, United States and Korea.
