RP FESTIVALS STAGED FOR FLORIKULTURA
San Fernando, Pampanga, Jan. 5, 1998 - Some of the country's most popular festivals will be staged at Florikultura '98, Southeast Asia's first international horticulture exhibition, set to open January 11 at the Philippine Christmas Village.
These festivals include: Ati-Atihan of Panay Island, Pahiyas harvest fiesta of Quezon, Sagayan of Mindanao.
Another festival from the Visayas is a combination of four festivals from the leading towns and cities of Negros. Among the performers will be the Masskara Dancers of Bacolod, the Linays of Silay accompanied by their own rondalla, the performers of Bago City and the Pasasalamat drum beaters of La Carlota.
With the theme "Gardens of the World" Florikultura '98 will feature 22 specialty themed permanent country gardens depicting the best flower and plant collections from North America, Europe, Middle East, South Africa and Asia-Pacific.
