10 COUNTRIES JOIN RP INTERNATIONAL TOURISM EXPO
Manila, Jan. 1, 1998 - Investors from four continents are participating actively in the Philippine International Tourism Investment Opportunities (PTIO) conference and exhibition next month.
Many of the foreign investors from the United States, Spain, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Japan are looking for local partners for possible joint ventures. They have expressed interest in tourism-related businesses, marketing tie-ups, and global inter-corporate networking.
The Asia-wide currency slump has weakened the peso to the point that Philippine products and services as well as tours have become cheaper and therefore more attractive to foreigners.
The PTIO, which will be held at the Shangri-La Plaza Hotel from January 27-30, will include a 3-day international tourism conference that will involve lecture discussions b public sector leaders and key industry players. Other activities are: tours, site inspection trips, exhibits of tourism destinations and related business ventures and project presentations by top tourism development consortiums.
