RP YACHT COPS SINGAPORE REGATTA
Singapore, Jan. 31, 1998 - The Subic Centennial, a Philippine yacht flying the flag of the Subic Bay Yacht Club, notched perfect scored to bag the Singapore Straits Regatta last week.
Subic Centennial claimed the Sir Thomas Lipton Challenge Cup in the Southeast Asia Perpetual Cup Series, backed by its earlier victories in both the Raja Muda Regatta in Malaysia and the Phuket King's Cup Regatta in Thailand.
Commissioned by the Centennial sailing syndicate led by bankers and businessmen to commemorate the 100 years of Philippine independence, the Australian-built Bashford 46 yacht was launched last October and easily won the Asian sailing circuit's kickoff Changi Sailing Club Regatta in Singapore.
The winning yacht has Australian Olympic champion Jamie Wilmot at the helm.
