FORMER PBA CAGERS JOIN METROBALL
Manila, Jan. 26, 1998 -
Four former Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) players have joined
the Manila Metrostars team of the soon-to-be-launched Metropolitan Basketball
Association (MBA or Metroball).
Ruben de la Rosa, Freche Ang, Peter Martin and Nandy Garcia were among seven players signed up by the Manila franchise yesterday. The league opens March 7 in Urdaneta, Pangasinan.
Also enlisted were former FEU standout Nestor Echano, AMA Computer College and Stag team member Chito Victolero and UP star Jasper Javier.
De la Rosa and Ang were members of the Purefoods team that won the All-Filipino last year. Martin was at various times with Pop Cola, Mobiline and Pepsi, while Garcia was with Alaska.
The first recruit was Rommel Adducul. Coach of the team is Ricky Dandan. The Manila Metrostars team is owned by Leandro Bantug and Loui Chuidian.
