SIODORA DEFENDS WBF TITLE
IN CAGAYAN DE ORO
Manila, Jan. 21, 1998
- The Pelaez Sports Center in Cagayan de Oro City has been chosen as the
venue to the defense by Filipino Rico Siodora of his World Boxing Federation
featherweight crown against Thai Kongthawat Oratai.
Siodora, who defeated American Cedric Mingo for the crown in December of 1996 has been inactive for a year. However, his manager Hynes Gualin is confident that Siodora can retain the title because of the very strict training regimen he stuck to for a year.
The Cagayan de Oro fight will be the first time for Siodora to defend his title.
Presidential aspirant Jose de Venecia and Senators Tito Sotto, Ramon Revilla and Gringo Honasan have been invited to grace the event, which is supported by the Cagayan de Oro city council, local wine maker Uy Masuy and Mayor Pablo Magtajas.
