CLARK FUN DRIVE CONTEST
WITH TIGER WOODS TODAY
Clark Field, Jan. 17, 1998 -
A select field of golfers will find out today if they can out-drive golfing
sensation Tiger Woods, who makes tee shots of over 300 yards.
The longest drive contest is a fun side show of the Smart Mimosa Tiger Challenge at the especially prepared par-72 Mountainview Course at Mimosa in Clark.
Main attraction of the event is the 18-hole stroke play benefit match between Tiger Woods and a group of tough, young Asian competitors that include Taiwanese Chang Te Peng (who replaced compatriot Hong Chia Yuh), Korean Kang Wook Soon and Filipino Felix Casas.
The special competitions will pit a small group of business leaders, top government officials and junior golfers against Woods.
The first of the special contests is the Mimosa Regency Casino longest-drive competition on the 480-yard par-4 hole No. 7, where the group of challengers will be given a 100-yard advantage.
The second fun game will be played on the 260 yard, par-three hole No. 16, where the green is completely surrounded by water. To win, the player must place his tee-shot closer to the hole than the 1997 US Masters champion.
