SAMBOY LIM LEAVES PBA FOR METROBALL
Manila, Jan. 3, 1998 - San Miguel Beer forward Avelino "Samboy" Lim is leaving the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) to join the Metropolitan Basketball Association (Metroball) in March.
Terms of Lim's contract were not immediately known but sources said the former Letran cager could receive more than P200,000 per month should a contract be forged with the Batangas Blades.
Although Lim continues to be one of the most popular PBA players, he has been saddled with injuries which almost ended his playing career. He was named Most Valuable Player of the All- Star game in 1990, and averaged a career-best 22.1 points that year.
He will be the first PBA superstar to hook up with the new league.
