RIO DIAZ RUNNING FOR NEGROS GOVERNOR

Pontevedra, Negros Occidental, Jan. 27, 1998 - Former actress and TV host Rio Diaz, wife of Pontevedra mayor Carlos Cojuangco, is definitely running for governor of Negros Occidental.

Mayor Cojuangco himself confirmed this to media this weekend, adding that he is running for congressman of the fourth district of Negros Occidental, under the Nationalist People's Coalition, the party founded by his father Danding Cojuangco.

The husband-and-wife team will file their certificates of candidacy early to prove that they are serious about their political plans.

He said the sisters of Rio are flying to Negros to support her candidacy. Rio is a younger sister of former Miss Universe Gloria Diaz.
