MELANIE SNUBS TIGER WOODS FOR SINULOG FEST
Manila, Jan. 26, 1998 - The Manila Times reports that Melanie Marquez did not show up for dinner with international golf phenomenon Tiger Woods, a date very few women would pass up.
The former Miss International was set up for a dinner date with Tiger Woods Sunday after the golf celebrity's game with President Ramos and a couple of Asian challengers at the Mimosa Golf Course in Clark. The date had been arranged by her friend and fellow model Malou Apostol- Gonzalez, wife of Tony Gonzalez who owns Mimosa.
Melanie was in Cebu as a judge for the Miss Cebu Tourism Friday night and was supposed to fly back Saturday to Manila and drive up to Clark Sunday morning. Ms. Marquez did not relish the thought of waking up early from a late night just to drive all the way to Clark for dinner the next day.
She opted to stay in Cebu until Sunday and joined in the street dancing and other frenetic activities of the Sinulog Festival.
Could be Tiger's not her type? Or has she not yet gotten over her Great Love, Pampanga Governor Lito Lapid, father of her oldest son?
Whatever the reason, Melanie preferred to be with a crowd of thousands, drowned in the beat of the Cebu Mardi Gras instead of in a private, sophisticated and high class dinner with the world's most famous golf pro.
