RP FILM "MILAGROS" IN OSCARS
Manila, Jan. 24, 1998 - Censors chief Jesus Sison congratulated the makers, director and cast of the movie "Milagros" which has been submitted as the "Best Foreign Language Film" category of the world's most prestigious movie awards, the Oscars.
"The entry of the local movie "Milagros" in the annual Oscar awards should be seen as blazing a trail for other films of equal merit to follow," said Sison, chairman of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board.
Produced by Merdeka Films and directed by Marilou Diaz Abaya, "Milagros" will compete with 13 other foreign films for inclusion in the nominees list in this year's Oscar derby.
Sison said the film, classified as Restricted-18 (For Adults Only) , "deserves our support in its quest for recognition in a foreign competition such as the Oscar Awards."
The movie stars Sharmaine Arnaiz as the heroine, Joel Torre, Nonie Buencamino and Raymond Bagatsing.
