CARMINA FILES ANNULMENT PETITION

Manila, Jan. 22, 1998 - The Philippine Star has just confirmed that young actress Carmina Villaroel wants a legal termination of her 3-year marriage to actor Rustom Padilla.

According to entertainment writer Ricky Lo, Carmina filed a petition for annulment of her marriage to Rustom last month, many weeks after their controversial, bitter and very public separation.

Ricky could not confirm what grounds Carmina cited in her petition, which she filed without consulting Rustom.

For her legal battle, Carmina has hired the newest stars in legal circles: Katrina Legarda and Lourdes Cruz-Matters, who have just successfully convicted Congressman Romy Jalosjos.

Rustom still claims to love Carmina, and promises to take her back if she should want to try again. But the filing of the annulment petition would seem to close all possibilities of a reconciliation at the moment.
