BONG REVILLA WEDS LANI MERCADO IN MARCH

Imus, Cavite, Jan. 21, 1998 - All is set for the March 28 grand wedding of Cavite Vice Governor Bong Revilla and the mother of his children, actress and TV host Lani Mercado.

The Philippine Centennial will figure prominently in the theme of the wedding, to be held at the Imus Cathedral. Award winning production designer Dez Bautista, whose forte is period or historical settings, has been contracted to take charge of wedding motif details and to decorate the cathedral.

Danilo Franco will design and execute the wedding gown and all the costumes of the entire entourage.

It will be like a wedding of the 18th or 19th century, with calesas, caruaje and tilburin, all horse- drawn carriages to ferry the wedding party to and from the church. Details like that reminded everyone who heard of the Irene Marcos - Greggy Araneta wedding in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte.

Bong and Lani both want President Fidel Ramos and Vice President Joseph Estrada to stand as their wedding sponsors, but politics might get in the way of having both in one place at one time.

The groom's father is actor-senator Ramon Revilla who is seeking re-election under the President Ramos' ruling party LAKAS-NUCD. The groom's famous basketball player brother-in-law Robert Jaworski is running for the Senate under the opposition party LAMMP of Vice President Joseph Estrada.
