LITO LAPID TURNS DOWN MIRIAM'S OFFER

San Fernando, Pampanga, Jan. 21, 1998 - Pampanga Governor Lito Lapid turned down the offer of presidential aspirant Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago to run as her vice presidential running mate.

This was revealed by Tonight columnist Gerry Ocampo in an article published today.

Ocampo reports that Lapid spoke to reporters at the press conference of his latest movie "Lisensiyado" under Regal Entertainment.

"I know that I am not yet ready for the vice presidency. I am a mere high school graduate, and I realize the limits of my capabilities," Lapid told the press. "I am studying and learning more and more from others."

"Lisensiyado" stars Lito Lapid with Zoren Legaspi, Chuck Perez, Michelle Ortega and former Miss Philippines Daisy Reyes.
