FPJ, NORA, RUDY LEAD ERAP CAMPAIGN
Manila, Jan. 20, 1998 - It was the big day for the opposition party, and the biggest star definitely was Joseph Estrada whose candidacy for President of the Republic of the Philippines was officially announced.
But the Folk Arts Theater, site of the LAMMP proclamation, was a-glitter with more stars who made it clear to the Filipino electorate that they wanted one of their kind to sit at Malacanang for the next six years.
Nora Aunor, of course, was there as she has been for all LAMMP rallies. Erap's best friend, the King of Philippine movies, Fernando Poe Jr., even raised the hands of Erap and vice presidential candidate Edgardo Angara. Rudy Fernandez, candidate for mayor in Quezon City was in the audience.
Comedienne Ai-Ai de las Alas made the audience laugh, while the April Boys and Nonoy Zuniga entertained them with popular songs.
The LAMMP Estrada-Angara jingle, sang to the tune of the dance song "SHALALA" and danced by the Octobeat Culture dance group, enticed comic team Joey de Leon and Tito Sotto to sway their hips to the rhythm.
Tito Sotto, of course, was one of the senatorial candidates in the LAMMP ticket.
