TV REPLAYS RESULT FROM PESO CRUNCH
Manila, Jan. 11, 1998 - Drastic economic measures are being adopted by the Philippine television industry to cope with a 30% drop in advertising revenues.
TV networks have reportedly slashed their budges for local shows, scheduling more replays even on prime time.
ABS-CBN has set about decreasing the number of production assistants and crew members for each show and production. It has also decided to replay some of its drama shows for January, including Star Drama Presents, FLAMES, Maala-ala Mo Kaya and Gimik!
Even top rating shows will experience two episode replays each month. Affected are: Palibhasa Lalake, Oki Doki Doc and Kaya ni Mister, Kaya ni Misis.
Rival station GMA-7 started replays last month, while ABC-TV5 will be replaying shows for the next two months.
