LLOYD SAMARTINO SAYS NO TO POLITICS
Manila, Jan. 6, 1998 - Lloyd Samartino, son of Carmen Soriano, and son-in-law of President Ramos, is not keen about entering politics.
"A politician's life is like being under a microscope," Lloyd said. "It's not like being an actor. Our lives (as showbiz personalities) may be open books but for sheer entertainment, for intrigues; nothing serious. In politics, it is different because this is real life."
Lloyd, husband of singer-musician Jo Ramos, is proud that his exposure has enabled him to learn a lot about politics.
"I've become more focused as a person. I've stopped being a dreamer and have become more realistic," he added.
He is all praise for President Ramos. "As a father-in-law, he's superb. He and my mother-in-law are very open-minded. They don't take sides."
The actor has known the Ramoses for many years because they were neighbors in Magallanes Village when he was still a kid.
He recently starred in a comeback film "Anak ng Bulkan" and is beck-deep in his real estate business, building low-cost homes.
