VILMA TO RUN FOR MAYOR OF LIPA CITY
Manila, Jan. 5, 1998 - There are indications that Vilma Santos may have changed her mind about staying away from political office, and may actually agree to run for mayor of Lipa City.
Nestor Quartero of Tempo writes that although Vilma herself has not declared her candidacy , persistent clamor among her husband's constituents may actually change her mind.
Quartero notes that when he last talked to Vilma, the actress had changed her attitude from a definite "No" to "I'm studying the matter seriously."
Vilma even admitted that she was ready to spend more time in Batangas if she becomes mayor of Lipa. There has yet been no official confirmation from her husband, Batangas Congressman Ralph Recto, grandson of nationalist leader and hero Claro M. Recto.
