JOKO AND ANGELU DRAGGED DOWN BY INCIDENT

Manila, Jan. 1, 1998 - The careers of young stars Angelu de Leon and Joko Diaz have been badly damaged by the Christmas Eve "incident" between Joko and Angelu's mother.

Mrs. de Leon complained to police that Joko threatened her with a gun. Angelu told police that her mother was lying, and it was mother who slapped and beat up Joko. Mrs. de Leon was forced to withdraw her charges, but set a condition that Joko would never visit Angelu at home ever.

The incident was widely publicized and reports surfaced that Joko and Angelu were actually caught attempting to elope.

Angelu is still staying with her Mom, but reportedly keeping to herself in her bedroom.

A beauty soap supposedly planning to use Angelu as its signature model backed out after the unsavory publicity hit the news stands.

Meanwhile, Joko's career is also dampened by the ugly affair. Movie writers report that Viva is now lukewarm towards developing his career and is turning its attention instead to wholesome, clean-cut Ace Espinosa. So far, Joko has no scheduled project in sight.
