Zamboanga City, Jan. 21, 1998 - The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has approved a project proposal for the construction of a highly sophisticated Medical City in Mindanao in support of the peace process between the Moro National Liberation Front and the Philippine government.
As announced by MNLF Chairman Nur Misuari, now regional governor of the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), the IDB approved the proposal after studying the blueprints presented during the pledging session of the international donor countries and financial institutions for the Special Zone of Peace and Development (SZOPAD) development projects. The pledging session was held in Paris, France last month.
Misuari said the vast medical facility will be built in Zamboanga City and will be the best in Southeast Asia, and would be able to offer all residents of the ARMM treatment for the most complicated ailments.
