Canlubang, Laguna, Jan. 11, 1998 - Japanese giant Fujitsu is investing $200 million for the establishment of a computer hard disk drive factory in Canlubang, Laguna.
Isao Sanaka, President for Storage Products Group of Fujitsu Ltd. said the company's expansion is in response tot he 20% annual growth of the hard disk drive market.
To complement the project, Fujitsu acquired a 20-hectare lot in the First Philippine Industrial Park Ecozone in Tanauan, Batangas.
The $200 million investment will be poured in during the first 3 years and will initially employ 500 workers, increasing to 5,000 employees eventually .
