Manila, Jan. 2, 1998 - The Tribal Communities Association of the Philippines (TRICAP) has signed five agreements forth $469 million with the Pan Pacific Aboriginal Trade Co. Inc. and other aboriginal business associations in Canada.
The agreements were part of the $1.9 billion worth of 27 new business deals signed between the Philippines and Canada witnessed by President Ramos and Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien.
Undersecretary Bae Trinidad Sibug of the Office for Southern Cultural Communities said the agreements cover gold-copper exploration in Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon and Lanao del Norte as well as the development of an abaca plantation and pulp mill in Bukidnon and North Cotabato.
Also included are production of medium-density fireboard in Agusan del Sur, development of an international communications gateway facility and a personal communications services digital mobile network.
