Makati City, January 1, 1998 - Makati City Jail warden Teofilo Labating was ordered relieved yesterday for letting out of his cell rape convict Congressman Romeo Jalosjos to attend a reporters' Christmas Party in another building.
The relief order was issued by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology following newspaper report s that the warden even escorted Jalosjos ti the Makati Press Guild Christmas Party.
And investigation was ordered to determine if Labating was negligent. Reports indicated that Jalosjos and Labating shouldered the expenses for the affair, including the raffle prizes.
Investigators will invite for questioning the president of the Makati Press Guild.
Jalosjos was sentenced to two life terms for two counts of statutory rape and another 48 years for six counts of acts of lasciviousness.
