305-THOUSAND NEW JOBS IN BATANGAS
Batangas City, Jan. 3, 1998 - Nine big industrial parks opening in Batangas province next year will generate 140,000 new jobs when they become fully operational in two or three years.
Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas announced that three of these parks are already in operation and continue to recruit thousands of skilled workers.
The nine industrial parks are in Lipa City, Malvar, Sto. Tomas, Calaca and Bauan towns. Of these, the Alcantara Group's Lipa City industrial park project alone has room for 90,000 workers.
Mandanas also said the Batangas Port Development Project in Batangas City will employ an additional 165,000. The Batangas Port-Expressway project will need a vital component, the rehabilitation of the existing railroad tracks, which the Ayala Group has already committed to undertake.
