FERRIES CUT TRAVEL TIME TO CAVITE
Ternate, Cavite, Dec. 30, 1997 - More and more tourists are opting to go to Cavite by boat than by car. And it's easy to see why.
It takes only one hour of leisurely sailing to reach Puerto Azul in Ternate, Cavite, instead of three, four, or five hours through pollution and traffic. The boat is the MV Stella Maris catamaran ferry, which shuttles tourists and residents of Novotel Puerto Azul Resort between Ternate and Manila.
The pilot runs of the ferry are initially only on a weekly basis, but a daily run will soon begin.
For travellers to Batangas who would rather take their own vehicles, a roll-on, roll-off (RORO) vessel is being acquired to accommodate light vehicles and mini vans. This RORO ferry will benefit tourism in Tagaytay and Batangas because the 4-hour drive between Cavite and Manila has so far been the biggest block to full development of recreation and leisure potentials of these areas.
