RP HOSTS 1ST INTERNATIONAL FLOWERFEST
San Fernando, Pampanga, Dec. 28, 1997 - All is set for the Philippines to take center stage next month, when the country hosts the first international garden festival in Southeast Asia.
The festival, called "Florikultura '98, will have participants from Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, Macau, Korea, Israel, South Africa, Monaco, Spain, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Australia, Mexico, Hawaii and several states on the US mainland.
The exhibits will be held at the Philippine Christmas Village, the only one of its kind in Asia, from January 11 to 21.
Tourism Secretary Mina Gabor said the festival will make Pampanga a tourist destination.
Days Hotel will open beside the exhibit venue to provide accommodations for participants and guests.
International celebrities, including Hollywood stars and members of royalty, are expected to open the exhibits of their respective countries and states.
