FRANCISCAN PILGRIMAGE TOUR AROUND LAGUNA LAKE
Morong, Rizal, Dec. 23, 1997 - This town's baroque church, with its unique and haunting facade, is one of the main attractions of a first-of-its-kind pilgrimage tour being offered this month by a prestigious cultural publishing house.
Vinta Publishing has organized a day-long trip through all the towns around Laguna de Bay founded by the intrepid Franciscan Missionaries who left their imprints in the churches and towns they built, as well as in the lifestyle and traditions of the people they evangelized.
The itinerary includes: Morong, Tanay's church and convent with its magnificent wooden 14 stations of the cross; Baras with a miraculous cross inside the church; Pakil's Virgin of Turumba and the turumba procession; Paete's historical church paintings, wood carvers and papier mache artists; Majayjay's 3-storey majestic grand church and Nagcarlan's baroque church and underground cemetery, which was used as a secret meeting place of Katipuneros.
The pilgrimage is offered to all Franciscan devotees, Filipiniana buffs and tourists with an eye for history and culture. For reservations, call Visitacion "Chit" dela Torre, Tel. 8156925 and 8154938.
