8.5 MILLION VISITORS TO CENTENNIAL EXPO
Clark Field, Dec. 19 1997 - Nothing can stop the grand opening of Philippine Centennial Exposition on April 30, 1998, assures National Centennial Commission chairman Salvador Laurel.
The 60-hectare exposition is expecting at least 8.5 million visitors from opening day to January 1999. A daily flow of 30,000 people is projected to increase to 52,000 on weekends.
Laurel said a "soft opening" for the Freedom Ring will be held on February 25 to mark the anniversary of the EDSA Revolution.
King Juan Carlos and Queen Sophia of Spain are among the special guests from 34 countries expected to grace the exposition on Independence Day, June 12,1998.
