PAL GETS U.S. AWARDS
Orlando, Florida, Dec. 16, 1997 - Philippine Airlines was recently conferred two major awards by the US-based Onboard Services Magazine for outstanding programs in inflight service and inflight amenities.
PAL received the two Diamond Awards during the 12th Annual Onboard Services Awards celebration at the Hyatt Orlando Hotel.
The top plum in the Inflight Services Category went to PAL for its reinforces inflight service campaign "Asia's Sunniest - Filipino Values, A Tradition on Board Philippine Airlines". The PAL entry highlighted the values of "Pag-aaruga" (nurturing the young), "Pagbabahala" (filial responsibility) and "Pagtutulungan" (helping others).
Under the Inflight Amenities Category, PAL's Junior/Baby Jetsetter Kit program was adjudged the best.
The program assists parents in handling bored children especially during long-haul flights by providing them with recreational materials like activity books, crayons, board games and infant kits. The program was expanded last April to include short and medium-haul international flights.
