PBA-PBL WORKING ALLIANCE PLANNED
Manila, Dec. 26, 1997 - Officials of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and the Philippine Basketball League (PBL) announced yesterday that they are working to forge a closer working relationship in the coming years.
PBA commissioner Jun Bernardino and PBL commissioner Yeng Guiao told sports writers yesterday that at the top of their agenda is a "development fee" to be paid by the PBA to the PBL for every PBL player who joins the pro league.
"We also hope to be able to affiliate with the PBA in the formation and coverage of our provincial teams by the year 1999," Guiao said.
In the meantime, the problem of Agfa player Danny Ildefonso, who was drafted by Shell despite a live contract with Agfa, will have to be dealt with on a ballclub-to-ballclub basis.
