MANOTOCS SHINE IN GATORADE TENNIS TOURNEY
Pasig, Dec. 24, 1997 - Two grandsons of the late President Ferdinand Marcos stood out in the Gatorade-Penn Masters held at the Rizal Sports Club in Pasig yesterday.
Unseeded Michael Manotoc, one of three brothers playing in the tournament, caused a ripple in the third round, ousting 12-under second-seed Gerald Remigio of Victoria School Foundation, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5.
The Singapore-based son of estranged couple Imee Marcos Manotoc and basketball coach Tommy Manotoc, according to the Manila Chronicle, "displayed poise and composure in critical moments of the deciding set as he registered his biggest win ever in the circuit."
His older brother Martin Manotoc was likewise a winner in the 14-under category.
