PINOYS SWEEP U.S. BILLIARDS RANKINGS
Denver, Colorado, Dec. 10, 1997 - Filipino pro pool players wound up their 1997 campaign in the United States by sweeping the closing tournament and the year-round rankings of the Camel Pro Billiards Series.
In the finals Sunday, Francisco "Django" Bustamante defeated fellow Pinoy Rodolfo "Boy" Luat to lead a 1-2-3 finish by proteges of Manila sportsmen Jose Puyat and Aristeo Puyat. Jose "Amang" Parica only landed third in the Denver Open but that was enough for him to overtake front-runner Buddy Hall of the US in the Camel Point system rankings, to win the $50,000 grand prize as "Player of the Year."
Bustamante is 3rd, Luat is 4th, Efren "Bata" Reyes is 5th and Leonardo "Dodong" Andam is No. 11 in the Camel rankings.
