ESPINOSA BY TKO IN 6TH ROUND
Koronadal, South Cotabato, Dec. 8, 1997 - Luisito Espinosa retained his World Boxing Council featherweight crown last night, knocking down Argentine challenger Carlos Rios three times before he finally stopped Rios in the sixth round at the South Cotabato Sports complex.
The bout was what everybody expected it to be, a "War in Mindanao."
Espinosa pocketed $150,000 for his successful title defense for the fifth time since wresting the crown from Manuel Medina of Mexico in 1995.
