BONG COO WINS HIROSHIMA CROWN
Hiroshima, Dec. 4, 1997 - Former world champion Bong Coo regained her old form to bag the fifth Hiroshima Open amateur bowling title.
Filipina Bong Coo shot 2349 pinfalls in 12 games to beat Japan's T. Ozako and Asian Games Masters queen Jojo Canare.
Coo, the only amateur to join the pros in the match play semi-finals, ranked seventh in a field of 108. After the event, Coo and fellow Pinay Canare played an exhibition game with three top male pros and Japan's No. 1 amateur, Tomomi Shibata.
"I will continue to play but I will try to concentrate on international tournaments," said Coo who decided to skip the recent SEA Games.
