JOKO BANNED FROM SEEING ANGELU
San Juan, Metro Manila, Dec. 28, 1997 - The mother of actress Angelu de Leon withdrew the case she filed against actor Joko Diaz, who she alleged threatened her by poking a gun at her face on Christmas Eve.
According to People's Tonight, Mrs. Flora de Leon executed an affidavit of desistance after a confrontation involving herself against Joko and her daughter Angelu at the San Juan police headquarters.
Mrs. de Leon said she withdrew her case because it could affect her daughter's career in show business. Her allegations were denied by Joko and Angelu, who both said it was Mrs. de Leon who kicked, slapped and hit him with a bunch of keys after refusing to let Angelu go out with Joko.
A showbiz insider, quoted by People's Tonight, said the fight really started when Mrs. de Leon spotted the two young stars as they were about to elope.
San Juan Police Chief Gilbert Cruz told media that both parties have agreed to a "destierro" type of punishment, wherein Joko is banned from visiting Angelu or going near her residence.
