JOEY DE LEON DEFENDS SON AND WIFE

Manila, Dec. 26, 1997 - Joey de Leon denied allegations that his wife Eileen Macapagal is maltreating Kempee, his son by actress Daria Ramirez.

"That's not true. They (Kempee and Eileen) get along well," Joey said.

The comedian and TV host theorizes that Daria might just be using the issue to land in the papers and give some promotion to a movie the actress is shooting right now.

In a published interview, Daria claimed that Joey is unaware of their son's problems because he hardly speaks to Kempee.

"That's a lie," Joey replied. "Kempee even goes with me on my trips overseas, so how can the two of us be travelling and not talking to each other?"

Joey requested that his wife Eileen and his actor son Joey be spared the intrigues. "Huwag naman nating pag-awayin si Eileen at Kempee," Joey begged. "The truth is, they get along very well."
