PHILIP SALVADOR RETHINKS CANDIDACY

Manila, Dec. 23, 1997 - Actor Philip Salvador is reportedly doing some serious re-evaluation of his earlier decision to enter politics.

Philip, who is the live-in boyfriend and father of Kris Aquino's son, had earlier announced that he would run for Mayor of Mandaluyong City.

Reports have it that the announcement did not sit well with Kris.

The daughter of former President Cory Aquino, whose aunts and uncles occupy elective positions (mayor, senator, congressman, governor), reportedly worries about all the intrigues that come with a political life. Her father, Senator Benigno Aquino, was assassinated in 1983.

But the biggest setback is reported to be financial considerations. With the Philippine movie scene dominated by cheap sex-oriented films, Kris and Philip have not been doing many movies lately. Philip was even forced to accept a TV drama series at much lower talent fees. Kris is doing mostly TV hosting.
