I'M BROKE, SAYS KRIS AQUINO

Manila, Dec. 22, 1997 - Fans are still trying to figure out whether Kris Aquino was serious or joking when she told the Philippine Star's Ricky Lo that she was broke.

In a long, exclusive pictorial-interview published today, Kris said she depends on cash gifts from her Mom, former President Cory Aquino, and had to borrow from her older sister Ballsy to buy her condo.

The Philippine Star also reported that Seiko boss Robbie Tan helped her with the down payment for her condo unit.

Kris claimed that she is cash-strapped because her investments are tied up in the money market.

The youngest daughter of President Aquino and the late Senator Ninoy Aquino is right now not doing any movies; her showbiz presence is a regular TV talk show. Even her live-in boyfriend, Philip Salvador, had to lower his talent fee to accept doing a TV drama series.

The two, who have a 3-year-old son Joshua, cannot get married yet, pending legal annulment of Philip's first marriage to his US- based Filipina wife. The annulment case is being heard in a Metro Manila court.
