ARMIDA'S APO IS NEXT LEA
Manila, Dec. 15, 1997 - Manila has a new favorite young singer: 14-year-old Cris Villonco, inherited the talent of her grandma Armida Siguion-Reyna and the brains of her grandfather Senator Juan Ponce Enrile, combined with the good looks and hard-working disposition of TV producer Mom Monique.
Cris launched her first album "One Smile" last week, and what a launching that was! The guest list was impressive and would make even Malacanang envious.
Ramon Jacinto (RJ) was there, and so was her fan Teodoro Locsin Jr. (Teddy Boy) along with Philippine theater pioneer Zenaida Amador.
The album's 12 songs have universal appeal, because they deal with love, infatuation and idealism. The tunes are mostly by Vehnee Saturno, with a few contributed by Jose Mari Chan, Louie Ocampo, Ryan Cayabyab and Gary Valenciano.
Cris is now busy juggling her schedule between school (she's a high school freshman) and rehearsals for concerts with Gary V and the Eraserheads.
