JAY MANALO LIKES PHONE SEX, SAYS BOLD STAR

Manila, Dec. 11, 1997 - Former lounge singer and award-winning model Alyssa Alvarez is described by the Manila Times as a "reluctant bombshell" because what she really wants to be is a singer.

Alyssa was a lounge singer in Hotel Rembrandt and Sulo Hotel. In 1995, she joined the Face of the Year contest and won as Press Photographers Choice.

Controversial talent manager Jojo Veloso convinced her to join the movies last June. She played one of Jay Manalo's girls in the movie "Totoy Mola" and it was during the shooting that Jay tried to court her.

"He'd call me up at home and tell me he's just in his briefs and then he'd describe to me what he's doing. Parang phone sex. I did not encourage him," Alyssa told the Manila Times.

"I heard galit daw siya sa akin kasi binuko ko siya. Kung ayaw niya sa akin, ayoko rin sa kanya," said Alyssa.

She added that she was forced to accept sexy roles to earn more for her family. Four of her sisters are married and she wants to help her nieces and nephews.

But her one big dream is to show that she is not just another sexy star but also a good singer, by recording an album.
