PHILIP SALVADOR RUNNING FOR MAYOR

Mandaluyong City, Dec. 9, 1997 - The newspaper TODAY is reporting that actor Philip Salvador has thrown his hat into the ring and is running for mayor in Mandaluyong as official candidate of the opposition coalition party Laban ng Makabayang Masang Pilipino (LAMMP).

Philip, live-in lover and father of the son of President Cory Aquino's daughter Kris, will be running against Councilor Ben Abalos. The Councilor is a son of incumbent mayor Benjamin Abalos, who has been mayor for three terms and is not eligible to run for mayor again.

But LAMMP insiders are saying Philip is still awaiting the " blessing" of his political godfather, Vice President Joseph Estrada, who is expected to be LAMMP's official candidate for President.
