INVESTMENTS DOUBLE IN NOVEMBER

Manila, Dec. 22, 1997 - Investments registered with the Board of Investments soared by 105% in November to P35.78 billion from P17.44 billion last year, the BOI announced.

As of November 30, investments generated by the BOI totalled P539.67 billion, which is 329.96 percent higher than the P124.557 billion recorded for the period a year ago.

Foreign equity investments also rose 164% this year.

The BOI approved a total of 432 projects this year, creating 112,925 jobs. The impressive performance this year prompted the Department of Trade and Industry to raise next year's investment target to P700 billion from the original goal of P600 billion.
