SHARES DIP, TRADING SLOW
Manila, Dec. 17, 1997 - The Philippine Stock Exchange index lost 18.29 points yesterday to close at 1,801.38 as investors continued to worry over the renewed currency turmoil in Asia.
Losers overwhelmed gainers 73 to 27, with turnover valued at only P858.6 million on a volume of 704.8 million shares.
Top gainers were Planters Development Bank, up 25% to P12.50; Belle Corporation Warrant, up 15.38% to P0.075; South Seas Resources, up 14.29% to P0.008 and Crown Equities, up 12.7% to P0.71.
