STOCKS SUFFER FROM PESO DROP
Manila, Dec. 17, 1997 - The stock market suffered additional losses yesterday, pulled down by the regional currency crisis.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index closed 35.07 points lower at 1,819.67, with losers outnumbering gainers 73 to 16.
Sluggish trading saw only 1.295 billion shares changing hands, valued at a mere P850.95 million.
Biggest loser was the property sector, joined by Meralco B which dropped P8 to P121, Meralco A which shed 4.35 percent to P77 and PNB which lost 3.33 percent to P87.
