BRITISH STEEL GIANTS IN RP
Manila, Dec. 10, 1997 - Two British steel giants are establishing business in the country by forging a joint business venture with Filipino consulting engineers Fife Belcher Philippines, Inc
The British Embassy describes William Hare Ltd and Westbury Tubular Structures Ltd. as two of the largest structural steel specialists in the United Kingdom.
According to the announcement, the two firms have been active in Southeast Asia and have recently completed major projects in Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and Malaysia involving power stations, chemical and petrochemical plants, high-rise buildings, airports, bridges and major shopping malls.
William Hare Ltd. designed, manufactured and supplied 16,000 tons of steel for the Black Watch Power Station in Hong Kong, which is regarded as one of the biggest power stations in the region.
It was also involved in building the Langkawi International Airport in Malaysia and the International Railway Terminal at Waterloo Station in London which is the gateway to Paris via the Channel Tunnel.
