INTEL BUILDS $30-MILLION CLARK COMPUTER W'HOUSE
Clark Field, Dec. 4, 1997 - Intel Philippines Manufacturing, Inc. will set up a $30-million integrated computer warehouse inside the Clark Special Economic Zone, boosting the transformation of the former US Air Force base into an Information Technology center .
Clark Development Corporation president Romeo David said the warehouse is designed to be a primary storage area for finished computer products to be exported directly to countries int he Asia-Pacific.
Intel's Clark project will also store raw materials for the company's line of products assembled in the Philippines, including Pentium, Pentium Pro, Pentium Processor with MMX and Media Enhancement Technology and Pentium II processor cards and PCI sets.
Intel expects its Clark computer plant to produce six million to eight million chips a week in the next five years. This will include processors, memory chips and mcro controllers for computer units.
Intel has two assembly and testing plants in Metro Manila and Cavite, aside from its manufacturing plants in the United States and Malaysia.
