Tuguegarao, Cagayan, Nov. 26, 1997 - An international airport will rise soon on the "Boracay of the North" which is also called the "El Nido of Northern Luzon." The airport is seen as a vital link between Fuga Island and countries northeast of the Philippines.
Fuga Island off the northern tip of Cagayan Province is the site of a $25-million tourism project by the Fuga Island Holdings, jointly owned by Tan Yu Asiaworld International Group and the Taiwan-based Tuntex Group.
Fuga Island is classified as a Free Port Area with duty free status similar to Subic Bay Freeport and Clark Special Economic Zone.
Everything is in place for construction to begin next month. All undertakings are supervized by the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority.
