ELEVEN WORLD-CLASS HOTELS GOING UP
Manila, Nov. 24, 1997 - The tourism sector boom is reaching an unprecedented pace, with 11 world-class hotels under construction simultaneously in various parts of the country.
Department of Tourism Secretary Mina Gabor briefed visiting foreign journalists on tourism-related projects recently and gave a rundown of a few.
1. The Century Golden Peak Hotel, a première first class hotel in the heart of Cebu City built at the cost of P317 million, is scheduled to open in June 1999.
2. In Baguio City, the 256-room EGI-Alberto di Ferrocio, costing P725 million, also opens in June 1999.
3. In the heart of the country's financial district, the 250-room Hotel Makati is now under construction on Kalayaan Avenue, between EDSA and Buendia streets in Makati City.
4. In Davao City, the Royal Manhaya Hotel is expanding its 131-room facilities. The P367-million improvements will be finished in July 1998.
5. Days Hotel is building a 60-room première hotel in Dasmarinas, Cavite, close to Tagaytay, with an estimated project cost of P317 million and scheduled for completion in July 1998.
